It is more likely they were threatenened with serious charges unless they cooperated with actions to silence him.
Given the manuvering involved this is highly likely. Perhaps some cash down the line too. Lots of little and big pawns in this game along with outright and open disregard for the laws of other nations. This charge had been pulled for a reason. Whatever degree of damage our image takes from the contents of the leaks, the behavior of the government exceeds the impact all by themselves.

About 95% of the information in the leaks is either way too sensitive to be released or things that are just too uninteresting to most people to even be leaked. I hope he gets everything that is coming to him and anyone who is affiliated with that group. It's alright if you want to leak things that show the injustices that we have committed, those things are fine, but a lot of the things reported on that are in the leaks were just stupid to leak.

That would be the 5% that I mentioned. You just completely overlooked everything I said just to try to prove your point. I even said that there are some things that the PEOPLE should know, but a lot of the other stuff was irresponsible to leak and it DOES put certain parties in danger and does hurt national security which makes WikiLeaks a horrible attempt at trying to inform people. If any country is smart, they have already downloaded and stored these documents.
In order to have a functioning Republic the citizens need to know about EVERYTHING their government is doing and spending in their name. In order for honest deals to happen both sides need to know EVERYTHING about the deal. Anything less leads to Tyranny and Corruption.
No wonder our Republic and out businesses are falling apart.
