The Tea Party stands for "taxed enough already." That should answer the question about why they didn't oppose the extension of the tax cuts. An additional element of the tea party is smaller government, which would cost less and reduce the deficit. That part has certainly not been addressed yet.

However, the Tea Party supports the Republican stance of "Protect the Fat Wallets of the Rich....by any means necessary".....that won't help the majority of TPers who most likely actually need the tax cuts for the middle class and the unemployment benefit extensions.

The extension of these tax rates and the extension of the unemployment benefits are not the totality of the government budget. If there are times when you have to increase expenses in one area (unemployment benefits), it's wise to look at another expense and see where you can make cuts to address the increase. Families do it and businesses do it; the government seems to be the only entity that doesn't.

You can't add NEW debt to the deficit when all you are doing is maintaining current revenue levels...we just prevented the moron-in-chief from stealing more money from the American people so he can waste it on turtle research and Union fat cats....

So the reason is not that people are waking up to the fact that the economy is in the toilet because of the governments manipulation with the free market. It's because they all hate Obama. riiiiight

The billionaire Koch brothers’ war against Obama : The New Yorker

The only way that they can remain 'relevant' is by attempting to elevate their patron saint, Sarah Palin, run for RNC Chairman (to of course replace the "Token"). However, the true Republican establishment will never let that happen and will quash the TP movement entirely.

The Tea Party was never about the Republicans. The Tea Party was a movement to push for transparency in government, to end taxation without representation, and to lower spending. That's it. That was the ENTIRE Tea Party platform.

Somehow over the last couple of years, an offshoot of this was birthed in the Republican party, and that offshoot started standing for a lot of whackjob things that the original movement was not about. Palin was not a Tea Party figure. Angle was not a Tea Party figure, etc.

Nobody knows what the "Tea Party" is today, because the high profile people who have taken over the moniker are, largely, kooks. The only pure Tea Party person I even recognize anymore is Rick Santelli, and as far as I'm concerned, he's still the man.

So to say that the Tea Party is disposable by the Republican party is a misnomer, because the Tea Party never needed the Republican party in the first place - the Republicans just sorta got their claws in the name, ran with it, and took it over.

Let me save the liberals' time on here and I'll reply for them in their stead: take the tinfoil hat off and open your eyes that the Tea Party was bankrolled by the Kochs and was all about racism and protecting the rich

Right out of the liberal handbook, A weak effort degenerating into typical liberal name calling.

Let's look at some of the Obama agenda

Obama's promise to put all bills on the White House web site for five days before signing them.

Obama's promise to have the congressional health care negotiations broadcast live on C-SPAN.

Obama's promise to end earmarks.

Obama's promise to keep unemployment from rising above 8 percent.

Obama's promise to end the hiring of former lobbyists into high White House jobs.

Obama's promise to end no-compete contracts with the government.

Obama's promise to disclose the names of all attendees at closed White House meetings.

Obama's promise for a new era of bipartisan cooperation in all matters.

Will Obama ever accept responsibility for something... anything?

Seems he pretty much bring this on himself !

People are just waiting to see what this new election will bring. If it is the same old thing you bet they will be out again. Many TEA party people ran and were elected.

Wait, the Koch brothers, two of the wealthiest men alive and 2 of the biggest philanthropists who ever walked the face of this damn planet, are racists now??
