The Tea Party is now impotent and completely disposable by the Republican party. Their usefulness has been drained.

The Tea Party "movement" was a puppet parade that was financially backed by billionaires like the Koch brothers in an effort to create a resurgence in the Republican party and they are no longer relevant.

The only way that they can remain 'relevant' is by attempting to elevate their patron saint, Sarah Palin, run for RNC Chairman (to of course replace the "Token"). However, the true Republican establishment will never let that happen and will quash the TP movement entirely.

While for the most part this is all internal GOP politics, I wouldn't get all worked up one way or another about who is or who isn't RNC chair because the job is basically one of fund raising, nothing more, nothing less. Whether they are chair of the RNC or the DNC, they don't set the agenda of either party.

It is pretty funny after the election all the tea party talk nearly instantly stopped. They were nothing but pawns to the right wing agenda.

I don't know exactly how much influence the tea party has, but I know it's a little more than the incumbents that just got voted out of office.

That aside, I agree with ovcatto.

That is no surprise. Steele is a token. Tea party was motivated by racism.

and hopefully Palin will tank with the demise of the "Tea Party"! This movement started out about taxes and quickly became very racist in nature.

Another Swing and miss

So all the left can do is start name calling, which is exactly what has happened.

This is why the left only gets a brief bit of power and then the country snaps back to reality and votes in a moderate or conservative and just plain common sense.

The Tea Party was mainly independants and regardless of what happens to the Tea Party the left has lost them.
