Los Angeles (not sure if it's city or county) has a similar measure in place that's been there for years. I bought some ammo on my lunch break once and was shocked that I not only had to show my D/L, but I had to give a thumb print. Needless to say, that was the last time I bought any ammo in L.A. I was living in Ventura County at the time, so I just did my shopping there from then on.
