The Obama administration has allowed 222 employers, insurers and unions to opt out of a key mandate in the new health care law – a number that has grown exponentially in the past two months.

Employers like McDonald's, Waffle House and Universal Orlando are among the companies that have received a one-year waiver, allowing them to maintain minimal coverage below the new law's standards.

The list has grown significantly since October, when 30 companies had waivers, and has doubled since early November. Taken together, the companies cover more than 1.5 million people, including 34 unions with more than 140,000 members.

U.S. Health Care Costs Since 1980 | The Big Picture

here was something i was reading this morning...

shows that something happened around 1980 when reagan took office, that caused our costs to grow compared to the rest of the world. im not real clear on what that was, though.

Probably would have been better having a poorly run national healthcare system rather than the crap we are looking to get here....

The difference in the rest of the worlds healthcare systems and Americas healthcare system is the rest of the world's countries gives its citizens universal healthcare then figures out how to pay for it whereas America's system is just about how much money the medical bureaucracy and insurance companies can make, result? 40 million Americans can no longer afford health care

And after this new HC law goes into effect, there will still be 30 million not covered.
