It is impossible that the majority of people in this country on medicaid are black and hispanic when white people make up a large majority of the country and the majority of white people are not rich or well off.
This date is specifically for medicaid, which I am not sure your stats are about. But 43% of those on Medicaid in the US are white, 21% are black, 28% are hispanic, 8% is other. The site also breaks it down by state.
You don't seem to understand is that the majority of the babies who are born on Medicaid are white babies.
Because white people are 66% of the population. But they're only 43% of those on Medicaid. White people (and Asians) are on Medicaid in numbers that are LESS THAN their percentage of the population would indicate. Do you really not understand the meaning and significance of that?

You can say anything you like about under or over representation but those are the facts. More white people use Medicaid than any other group.
In a proportion that is LESS THAN their percentage of the population. What about that do you not understand? Serious question.

what is 21% + 28%?
is it higher, or lower, than 43%?
Do you think residinghere2007 will even bother to answer that question?
I pay a good bit more than my fair share, as my income is less than $300K. But I don't begrudge that I pay more than what is fair. I begrudge those earning a lot more than I, who do not pay their fair share. I ceratinly do not begrudge those on the receiving end of Medicaid, in any way! They need it.
Do you think they also needed to have a baby, when they knowingly couldn't afford to support it?
I would call FL the ultimate swing state. It's not a GOP stronghold like most of the South is. Plus while I haven't seen national stats on this subject, I woud guess many states have similar numbers to Florida.
Any parent who asks medicaid to fund the birth of their child should be sterilized so they don't produce yet another hungry mouth to feed at the taxpayers expense.
Agree !!!!! We have way too many people on earth and need to shift policies, incentives and laws to discourage more growth.
And you think dependency on Medicaid is something to be encouraged and increased? Please explain why.
I think having the proper medical attention at childbirth is important to prevent illnesses and injuries that could cost the public health care system even more money in the future.
Of course you probably don't care one way or another as long as these people aren't on the public dole. I get that.
This is great news for the political party that loves taking money from productive citizens to subsidize everything but productivity.
