The hatred of Social Security from the right-wing antigovernment crowd is based on the fact that Social Security, a government program, has been enormously successful in accomplishing its mission. For seventy-five years, in good times and bad, Social Security has provided financial security for tens of millions of Americans.
In the midst of all of the destructive rhetoric and ideas out there with regard to Social Security, there is one proposal that is simple, sensible and would keep Social Security strong and solvent in a fair and just way. Under the law today, the Social Security payroll tax is levied only on earnings up to $106,800 a year. That means millionaires and billionaires get off scot-free on all of their income above that amount. In other words, an individual who earns $106,800 pays the same Social Security tax as a multimillionaire. That's wrong. Applying the Social Security payroll tax on those with the most income, say over $250,000 a year, would correct this inequity. According to CBO, applying the tax to all income would provide all the revenue that Social Security needs for the foreseeable future—for our kids and grandchildren and great-grandchildren. I'm more disgusted with the enablers of "American Royalty" . I'm beginning to realize that many in the USA actually don't give a damn about a democratic and fair form of government and truly do want an oligarchy for some bizarre reason. There must be a psychological explanation as to why some middle class working people make excuses for the inequality, greed and corruption.

The source of inequality is the government, which has ultimate authority.
The source of greed is the government, whose mission increasingly seems to be the seizing of income and private property.
The source of corruption is the government, which you have to "pay to play" and which gets off scott-free for this world's largest Ponzi scheme called "Social Security".
A "democratic and fair form of government" is a hell of a lot smaller than our present federal government, and seems to be you guys on the left that don't give a damn about that.
Many don't realize that Social Security allows the middle class the freedom to pursue their lifestyle during their prime years by providing income to their elders. This allows their elders to live independent lives through their golden years. If by some magic stroke of a pen the system were abolished, there would be 47 million seniors moving in and dependent on their children for the basic necessities of life. That would sure crimp their lifestyle and limit their ability to accumilate wealth. The numbers are expected to rise to 65 million as the boomers retire.

SS today does not provide that. One cannot solely live off SS today.
I find it funny that the anti-government crowd, thinks it would be a wonderful idea to privatize Social Security?
