you have proof that the top 50% take in 95% of the income?

I'm pretty sure America's millionaires counteract those of us lucky to make $10K a year.

pretty sure doesnt cut it. you need facts to back up your claim that the top 50% take in 95% of the income otherwise it is pure conjecture on your part.

as for you being lucky to make $10,000 per year, who's fault is that? not the rich's i can tell you that for sure.

The top 1% earns 20% of the income but pays 38% of the federal income taxes. The top 5% earns 34.73% of the income but pays 58.72% of the federal income taxes. They're overpaying. That needs to be adjusted to be fair.

I can understand rich Republicans who want to lower taxes for the rich. I don't understand the poor Republicans. What do they have to gain from lowering taxes for the rich? If you lower taxes for the rich then you're in effect raising taxes for everyone else.
Because the rich invest there money which means more companies and more jobs. Much of the middle class has plenty of money, they just have no common sense. When I see videos of people trampling each other in walmart to get a $40 DVD players I am more convinced then ever.

I'd recheck those figures.

Forget about sheltered income and add it back in. Also add in UNearned income.

Why? They're correct. Here they are again.

The top 1% earns 20% of the income but pays 38% of the federal income taxes. The top 5% earns 34.73% of the income but pays 58.72% of the federal income taxes. They're overpaying. That needs to be adjusted to be fair.

What about those stats do you dispute, and what evidence supports your opinion?

I posted IRS data. Those items are included.

Tax shelters are not as lucrative as you seem to think. They require large and risky investment in which short-term losses are taken in order to have a chance at possible long-term gains. The IRS has very strict rules, and examines any attempt at sheltering income carefully.

It is kinda like the situation with "battered" women who end up going back to their abusive husbands/boyfiends time and time again.

Oftentimes they don't know any better and don't know what is in their best interests...

Yeah, I don't understand why so many poor continue to vote democrat either. I guess they get comfy and accustomed to government handouts.

I'm a believer in a hand up, not a hand out.
