Rambling gunman dead after opening fire at Florida school meeting - CNN.com

I don't understand. The guy clearly didn't understand that guns are NOT ALLOWED on school grounds. Maybe a government stimulus package that incorporated more citizen education would help?

Perhaps a few more laws prohibiting law abiding citizens from carrying a means of defending themselves would have stopped it....then again the law abiding citizens were already disarmed thanks to a pointless law while the crazy person ignored the law and attempted to kill them.

The only thing gun free zones accomplish is assuring those who would commit violent acts that they are likely to be unopposed in committing those acts as long as they commit them in a gun free zone.

I suspect the usual crop of anti self defense liberals will be along shortly to explain how more government prohibition of the God given right to self defense will prevent these things from happening. After all, it's for the children.

After watching the video the shooter has to be the worst shot in the world...Point blank and all he hit was the wall. If this was a gun free zone, then how did the security guard manage to shoot him at least three times?

It's only a gun free zone to those who aren't LEO or rent-a-cops. Oh, and criminals.

ETA: are rent-a-cops permitted to carry on campus?

Maybe the stimulus money didn't fund signs large enough for him to spot? If so, it's Bush's/Republican's/Tea Party's fault.

I really love these "Self Defense Free Zones". I get all warm and fuzzy knowing some rent -a-cop is there to protect me.

I think we should teach high school age students firearm safety and gun control. Control as in selecting a legitimate target and hitting it with the first shot.

Thankfully this latest assault on the defenseless did not know how to use a handgun. It is not as easy as on TV.

In the course of a day, I must have to remove my concealed carry weapon (Kel-Tec P3AT dubbed my "pocket protector") multiple times from my person. First, at the university I place it in the glove compartment (I know, it's still not technically legal to have it there but my house is out of the way and I have no temporary spot off-campus to secure it), then I would often go to the pub to play trivia with friends. Another place I have to take it out. Yet another if I stop by a market that prohibits it (their right of course since it's private property).

Why can't we be like the Czechs and allow people to carry wherever they damn well please?
