I also read that these same government idiots banned paper bags in the past because they were destroying forests

Don't worry, pretty soon you won't need any bags because you won't be able to afford to buy anything.

So what do people line their trash cans with now? My wife has been lining our trash cans with them, saves us money on plastic Glad bags. Guess the poor have to spend money on garbage bags now.

Use the paper bags. That's what I've done for years.

But a city (believe SF) in the SF Bay Area banned paper bags because it was cutting down a large amount of trees! Don't you know for every paper bag you use, you're contributing more to global warming!!

I use them to clean the cats litter box.
If banned here, I'll have to start flinging cat poo over the fence into the neighbors yard...again.

Not the case. San Fransisco has also banned plastic bags (3 years ago I think), not paper bags.

No way San Jose,my husband recycles the plastic bags when he picks up dog poop in the yard. We also line the smaller trash bins with used plastic bags.

Geez, I bought a couple of those 'bring your own' bags. Once home and unloaded I put it next to the door to make sure I return it to the car, otherwise, of course, I'd forget to take it for my next grocery shopping. I've been using them for a couple of years now. Usually I'll bag myself but if a store person starts, I'll tell them everything should fit into the bag/s excepting the beer and maybe eggs and/or bread.

Welcome to the 21st century. CY-own-A.

I also like to carry a bag from 'the other' grocery store... just to remind them that there is competition.
