And of course GOP politicians love that, just mention raising fines for business hiring illegals and watch them run for cover... LOL
It prob doesn't make much sense to compare the German economic model w/ the US one:

Quote:
Germany has a social market economy with a highly skilled labour force, a large capital stock, a low level of corruption,[114] and a high level of innovation.[115] It has the largest and most powerful national economy in Europe, the fourth largest by nominal GDP in the world,[116] the fifth largest by PPP,[117] and was the biggest net contributor to the EU budget in 2011.[118] The service sector contributes approximately 71% of the total GDP, industry 28%, and agriculture 1%.[4] The official average national unemployment rate in April 2014 was 6.8%.[119] However, the official average national unemployment rate also includes people with a part-time job that are looking for a full-time job.[120] The unofficial average national unemployment rate in 2013 was 5.3%.[4]

O'course that's not to say we (US) can learn much.

His underlying philosophy supports this way of thinking, his economic system encourages this as well. F'rinstance:

How Germany Builds Twice As Many Cars As The U.S. While Paying Its Workers Twice As Much - Forbes

How can that be? The question is explored in a new article from Remapping Debate, a public policy e-journal. Its author, Kevin C. Brown, writes that “the salient difference is that, in Germany, the automakers operate within an environment that precludes a race to the bottom; in the U.S., they operate within an environment that encourages such a race.”

2) The big difference between US and Germany is that here, many lower income conservatives are concerned (for unclear reasons) about taxing the rich than the billionaires themselves.I haven't seen this phenomena in any country: poor people worried about how the wealthy (or big corporations) will make it. That's uniquely American.
Great post.

As to the underlined: OMG, you nailed it. After 17 years in the US, I still can't figure that out:
The lower-middle class or even the working poor getting into arguments with "socialists" about how taxing those poor stinking rich people (who don't give a freaking hoot about THEM, it should be noted) is "theft" and "evil."

Uh, yeah, sure, dude. Because I can see this extreme capitalism thing is working out real well for YOU!

I don't think it's evil to tax corporations. it's simply bad for business within this country.

Maybe in Germany the government doesn't **** away the tax money and ask for more to make up that lost to corruption, waste and inefficiencies, political marketing and lazy slugs who scam the system.

Consider also that these uber wealthy business men are playing a game and what they say is for public consumption and what they do is for their creative acountants.

Well, I agree with your premise that governments can **** away tax money to corruption, waste and inefficiency. Very true.

But do you consider BOGUS, RELENTLESS WAR that has cost us trillions of dollars to be an example of "political marketing"? Because I sure do. Talk about ****ing away the money.

The bogus relentless war is just one of the many continuing abuses and misuses of my tax dollars, IMO.
Not to mention the lives of our young men and women.
But the abuses and misuses are all over the place...including just flat out misplacing millions of dollars.
It's ridiculous.
The government has grown to service itself at this point.

My local community has cut taxes 5 years in a row because of revenue surplus. Yet we have great roads, the best school systems, adequate fire/police response, beautiful parks, clean streets...why? Because the accountability is at the LOCAL level where I directly call my councilman and talk to him about whatever I want.

Nameless faceless giant uberlord government = zero accountability and rampant corruption.

Maybe because in THIS country, you have the unique opportunity of perhaps getting to be one of those poor stinking rich people. Whereas good luck getting that opportunity anywhere else in the world.
