This graphic seems comprehensive on state's taxes. It includes taxes on income, sales, personal property, estate and 'other'.

Check taxes in your state

My house in not new, not a mansion, doesn't have any land, no pool, no architectural interest, no landscaping. But the town of Exeter has raised my property tax to $13,600 a year and the rumor is it will increase even more drastically next year. I have no doubt if I can't sell this house, we'll be looking at property tax bills of over $20,000 within 5 years, and then I'll never be able to sell the property and get out from under this bankrupting nightmare.

And Exeter doesn't even pay for trash pickup. Government has gone insane here as well as in Washington, and I don't understand why we are allowing politicians to wipe out our life savings for no reason other than their own insatiable greed for power. Has every modern American had their spines removed? How much will we lose before we say "ENOUGH"?
I had no idea property taxes were so high in New Hampshire, how about northern New Hamshire is it just as high or alot lower.

I thought Delaware was the highest per kilowatt hour. The northeast is a fortune. Not to make anyone feel bad, before Christmas.

Here's a gas tax map, look familiar? They need to switch colors.

I moved from Boston to Dallas six months ago. I work for the Federal Police and in Boston made 52k a year with income tax, high property tax 4300 a year, and 6% sales tax. In Dallas at same job make 40k a year, no income tax, property tax is 3400 and sales tax is 8%. I see more money in my paycheck my house is about 30 years newer. You may make less money down south but it goes further. Im never going back. Plus the chicks are way hotter down here too. Im single and no kids so that might not apply to everyone.

You can look at that map and see who produces a lot of electric from coal and also export a lot of electric to other states.

You're right about that, and after some research with property taxes included West Virginia does pretty well. New Hampshire is a little high on property taxes but low on other taxes. I try to see it as a whole, for money leaving my pocket and thats why I included electric. I'm glad gas tax was included as well. I certainly wouldn't expect not to pay any taxes, but it's nice to see that some people aren't getting taxed to death. While other's aren't so lucky.

Profanity adds nothing. States, car dealers, etc use the Kelly Blue Book
