So will you now admit that Bill Clinton, who signed the bill into law, had a sad and pathetic (that's redundant btw) presidency? McCain served with distinction in the military, he at least has first hand knowledge of how homosexuals are viewed in the military.

BTW I was for repeal.

I can't believe that someone actually thinks something this silly. For heaven sake, I am an elderly great grandmother and I am actively for equality of rights for G&Ls. Of course I am a feminist and was active in the civil rights movement as well. And I strongly support the Dream Act.

The point that you seem not able to understand is that there are actually those of us who truly believe that all people are endowed by their Creator with certain rights....an among those are life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. And we don't have to be the one hurting to want to end the pain of others.

does this mean the military will now JUST be gay? who will want to serve with them, I mean some people are so homophobic, they won't even join if they don't ask for transfers to where more heteros are? there's going to be a backlash, but it comes with the territory. I don't mind the repeal, but I do think it's a long way before all can be accepted.

I AM envisioning a drop in recruitment of straight males...but those are the ignorant ones, as for those ALREADY there, they might just retire(the older ones), and I can just imagine the Disciplinaries in there at Bootcamp, LOL....I hate to say it but, those guys might have to get some sensitivity training, LOL...I am not against repeal, but this is a step into something that should've been done away with a long time ago. for all I know the military's got more gays in the closet who will now just come out with it.

DADT was initially instituted by George Washington.

Even if you take that one must be sexually attracted to the same sex to be homosexual, that doesn't necessitate that one actually has sex with the same gender. Meaning that your statement that "it's a choice" because one chooses whether to have homosexual sex is *******s. Being gay and being an ethnicity are equal for purposes of discrimination as neither is a choice based on an act but a state of being.
I can love a woman, but I don't have to have sex with her. She can be my friend, I don't have to try to bang every female friend I have. Same thing

There were and still are many whites that support equal rights for blacks. They were called black loves, to put it mildly. One does not have to have gay friends or relatives to support equal rights for gays and lesbians. Do you only support equal rights for the race you are from? We already know that you support full equal rights for heterosexuals and not for gays and lesbians. Equal rights should not be based on the color of ones skin or the sex of the person they are attracted to.
