Psh! Those things? Please! My grandparents walked 10 miles in the snow, up a mountain both ways, battling Nazi's and Communists to get to school. Snakes and alligators are just chickens with teeth. Hurricanes were much stronger in the old days with bugs the size of your hand. And humidity? Stop being a sissy!

Okay, I'm just playing around.

I couldn't help but notice that:

- Reids Nevada
- Davis/Schwarzenegger(RINO), Pelosi, Boxer, Feinstein, +13 Socialist Dems California
- Kerry, Franks and the 10 Dems in 10 districts Massachusetts
- John Reed and Patrick Kennedy's dem strangled Rhode Island
- Dodd and Leibermans Connecticut
- Feingold and Kagens Wisconsin
- New York and Illinois liberal Democrat entrenchment (too long to list) and quote "govern-mentally dysfunctional" states

are all on the list and that the people there (here) are over taxed, under served, and the local governments are inept? They are all fiscally broken states.

If progressives are so much smarter than the rest of us backwoods conservatives, why are their states in the worst financial condition?
I cannot help but notice that each one of those states resides a major component of our nations economic engines. Since our economic engines were targeted by neo conservative policy since the 70's, it is not surprising to me at all that they are the most difficult states to retire in. That's one way to encourage them to retire elsewhere. That's the point. Americans have been economic nomads for decades and surprise surprise the demographics are being manipulated. We'll force you out of your house one way or another. Paid the mortgage but can't cover the property taxes? Out you go.

A lot of truth in that. I know of several cases where people have been forced to sell homes they have lived in for many years because of property taxes.

Yuppers. And when you manipulate the price of housing so horribly even employees can't afford to rent. They leave too. The only ones allowed to live there are moguls twisting the markets to serve themselves.

Talk about "selective reading" (more like picking and choosing).

I read the article: it lists Arizona and Florida as amongst the worst places to retire. Guess what? They're both in bad shape, they're both Republican and BOTH have plenty of retirees. Yet, you chose not to mention them.

As for Texas, the property taxes are outrageously high. The article mentions San Angelo, TX as a good place for "military retirees". Please, San Angelo is too close to West Texas. I've been there. They should rename that place "Satan's Armpit". The "best" city in Texas is Austin. It is very, very liberal. Dallas/Ft. Worth is bumper to bumper traffic. Houston is hot and muggy.

If you dislike California and are ashamed of living there, do something about it. Put one foot in front of the other and leave. Whining and parroting Glen Beck, et al, platitudes will not get you anywhere.

Please do move to that beacon of enlightenment known as Texas and let me know how it goes.

Whatever you do, don't try to become a "conservative TV pundit". You won't make it.

Property taxes in El Paso, TX are very high but the cost of living is relatively low. I don't think you will find a less expensive place to rent an apartment than El Paso, TX.
