Just curious, are people shopping more or less for Christmas?

We seemed to have loosened the purse strings and are definitely spending more than last year.

If so, is it because the economy is improving, people anticipate having more money with the Obama tax cut continuation, increased sense of optimism, or other.

AP article says shopping is up, crowds are up, sales are up and people are spending.
Healthy gains across the board. And why not..the recession ended June 2009.

I am Christmas shopping, but won't spend a whole lot of money or at least I'll try not to, probably $300 at the most.

I am done with Christmas shopping, hit every single online discounter and then some, Everyone is on a budget this year i am buying for. However i am pretty lucky, won't say where my daughter works, don't want her to get in trouble, but with her discounts, i get 50% off what i buy, and believe me does that help out.

Now i am on to my baking, and boy do i bake good, Want some!

Man I was so set on a cheap Christmas but something did come over me this year and I ended up spending more than I should have, more than I usually do. All for my kids of course, but still I'm kind of upset I let myself do it. I didn't go into debt or anything but some of this stuff isn't worth it.

I've spent more this year than any year prior. I love my wife and am showering her with gifts. She's going to have a good Christmas.

So far I'm out around 700 dollars. Only 300 more for his birthday, which happens to be on Christmas day.
