I guess it is "exceptional" to not use government to impose involuntary servitude for the benefit of another.
"No one should suffer because they lack {fill in the blank}" should be prefaced with "No one should be compelled to labor for the benefit of another, so that..." because slavery is not an acceptable solution to the ills of mankind.
Slavery? Ha
Don't want to be a 'slave'? You have the choice to not work.
You're frivolous use of the word 'slavery' is a disrespect to the millions of humans who have been (and are) actual slaves.
177 nations guarantee paid leave for new mothers; the U.S. does not.
74 nations guarantee paid leave for new fathers; the U.S. does not.
132 nations guarantee breastfeeding breaks at work; the U.S. does not.
163 nations guarantee paid sick leave; the U.S. does not.
48 nations guarantee paid time off to care for children's health; the U.S. does not.
41 nations provide leave that can be used for child education needs; the U.S. does not.
33 nations provide paid leave to care for adult family members; the U.S. does not
I believe you are wrong about those 1st two. What about the family medical leave program? It permits mothers and fathers time off with a new infant, with pay.

Yeah, but do they have NASCAR, Nuclear Bombs, and Freedom? Just kidding, I know what you mean, but I watched CNBC once and the guy on there said, "France gives 5 weeks vacation a year, long maternity leaves, more holidays, and allows people to retire at age 60 [now 62 I think]. Those people are nothing but lazy!" So, best of luck trying to convince others about this. Though, I have to agree with you.

Pay is not part of the family medical leave act. One can use vacation pay but employers in the US are not required to pay for family/medical leaves.
When a government "provides" payments taken from the taxpayers, who are compelled to surrender their wealth under duress, that's "slavery".
So there should be zero taxation? Any sort of taxation is "surrendering your wealth." I'd rather have mine going to help working-class and middle-class Americans than the fat cats and multinational corporations.
Why in the world would we want to subsidize bringing even more people into our grossly overcrowded world, particularly when the labor market has been flooded since the 1970s, with the resulting stagnation of wages?
We should do everything we could to stop and reverse immigration until we have a labor market that is size properly for the jobs in the economy.
I know why Big Business and Big Government love huge masses of people living in miserable poverty, but why the citizens would want such a thing boggles the mind.
Stop immigration? We should try to reduce the birth rate (through non-abortive means, of course).
