MANASSAS, Va. (WUSA) -- They call themselves the "Christmas Sweater Club" because they wear the craziest ones they can find. They also sing Christmas songs at school and try their best to spread Christmas cheer.
Now all 10 of them are in trouble because of what they did at their school.
If you read the story they were punished for throwing bundles of candy at people (a lot of which just ended up as litter on the floor). Their punishment was 2 hours of cleaning the school.

Skylar Torbett, also a junior, said administrators told him, "They said the candy canes are weapons because you can sharpen them with your mouth and stab people with them." He said neither he nor any of their friend did that.
Forgive me if I don't necessarily believe what a group of rowdy teenage boys who in their minds have been unfairly punished are saying.
It wouldn't surprise me one bit if "administrators" never said anything remotely close to what this troublemaking child claims.
Regardless, throwing candy at other students and littering the halls with trash in a high school SHOULD be punished. I think 2 hours of cleaning is very appropriate.

Those gosh-darned kids with their candy canes and Christmas cheer!

So much for it's the HAPPIEST TIME OF THE YEAR, this crap has got to stop. Why don't we just give up on all holidays, and never smile at all. Would that be acceptable.

I don't think that it was their cheer that was the issue, but that it was Unauthorized Cheer.

How is it they were rowdy? In fact I dont see the rowdy type as dressing up in funky sweaters and singing carols at all.
And why would it not surprise you if the Admins said all of the things mentioned in the article?
Did they make the halls messy? Yeah they did. The mess most likely would have cleaned itself up by other kids picking up the candy and enjoying it.
Not all kids are rowdy or bad, i'd bet these kids had better then average grades, did not drink or use drugs and had promising futures ahead of them.
