No idea.

It seems quite a few Australians were unaware that the Australian gov. was partly paying for it all...

I did find this. Not how true it is because it is a gossip rag, the Daily Mail.

Oh yes,it is true that the trip was partly funded by the Australian gov.

So not quite the same big giveaway by Oprah.

You feel comfortable assuming that a story published in a UK tabloid is true? Do you believe everything you read in The Enquirer published here in the US?

Well it does seem to be substantiated by an Austrailian tourism official in this article. Makes Oprah seem shady in my opinion.
