The question being posed is nonsense. You may as well ask, "Why do minorities live in Southern states. Southern states supported segregation and Jim Crow laws."

My answer was that CONSERVATIVE Republicans (as opposed to the likes of GWB, Charlie Crist, etc) promote Economic policies that are good for the nation at large. These policies will benefit people of all ethnic backgrounds.

Why don't you give us a good answer... what (D) policies have been beneficial to African Americans (and in what ways)?
Economic policies based on what is best for the very wealthiest of the wealthy are not good for the nation at large.

So we should just recommend liberal Big Government policies that have brought your home state (amongst others) to its knees?

Stop falling for the Marxist clap trap.

You're asking why people aren't judging a party on the general consensus of that party on certain issues...150-200 years ago? Parties change. You think someone like Teddy Roosevelt or even Lincoln, would be a Republican today? Or that someone like Andrew Jackson would be a Democrat?

Yes, very actively before and during the Civil War. After the war of course there was no slavery to support, but the Dixiecrats were solidly against equal rights for former slaves.

Perhaps you need to do a bit of reading on the Dixiecrats and Thurmond. He was a Democrat until Civil Rights Legislation in the 60s, then changed to the republican party.

Conservatives have long been supporters of racism, no matter which Party they were a member of at the time.
