The teachings are about living frugally, to help the poor, to only live with what you need and give your unneeded wealth away. To open your doors to the needy and that greed is evil. Even how Jesus is depicted in looking, long hair, beard, sandals, pretty much exactly like hippies of the 60's.
It just seems to make sense that if you are a true follower of the bible, you would be a hardcore liberal, not a conservative.
Huh? Where did you read that Jesus was a liberal? I'm a Christian and I voted for Obama. I also voted for a Mark Dayton for MN governor. Believe it or not, I didn't want to be irrational about my votes and I thought hard and long about this stuff. I can't tell my school mates this or they'll stone me. I am more conservative in some areas than others, but I had my reasons why I voted for these two fellas.

My only question is why can't you tell your school mates? You "thought long and hard" before voting, that is something to be proud of, that is what everyone should do before voting. As long as someone thinks and uses their brain instead of just doing what some religious or political leader says, whether they vote Rep., Dem. or Ind., it's a good vote. We might actually get some decent representation if people would think more.

Freedom of religion is an important value that some Christians don't seem to believe in, they want freedom ONLY for their particular religious beliefs.
nonsense.........

There are many "Christians " that are that on Christmas and Easter... the rest of the year it is lip service. If you look for those that actually live the words Of JC I'm thinking they would less likely be republicans.

Again I tell you, it is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than for a rich man to enter the kingdom of God

What differerence does it make? The Jesus story is the Jewish version of a story told in ancient Egypt 3000 years earlier. Anybody who honestly believes that a god came by and left the only keys to the kingdom in the hands of ignorant primitives who thought the earth was flat and the universe revolved around it and that their story being modified in 360 AD by a Roman emperor is OK needs their heads examined. IMO

To respond to your comments, here are a few passages.
Timothy 6:17 "Command those who are rich in this present world not to be arrogant nor to put their hope in wealth, which is so uncertain, but to put their hope in God, who richly provides us with everything for our enjoyment. Command them to do good, to be rich in good deeds, and to be generous and willing to share. In this way they will lay up treasure for themselves as a firm foundation for the coming age, so that they may take hold of the life that is truly life."

Galatains 6:2 "Carry each other’s burdens, and in this way you will fulfill the law of Christ."

From these passages, it further conforms in the eyes of the lord we should find happiness in god, not in wealth. Those that have wealth are to carry other's burdens so they can as well excel in life. These are far left liberal stances.
only one little catch, you have to be willing to share. not force by law or threaten with punishment. if god wanted to force us to share he could have made the whole world socialist or communist

Jesus was not about forcing you to do anything.giving is soppose to come out of your own heart and free will. so if you think about it liberals are as far away from Jesus as those that put him on the cross. liberals are all about forcing people to give through laws and threats of punisnment if they do not give. the government can take away a rich man fortune but if he does not give it freely it does not help the rich man, with god.nor would that money be bless by god it will not do nothing for the poor.We are seeing it, the more the government takes to give to the poor the more poor people are created. there are 40 million people on welfare why does that number is always going up never down?

Maybe there are more poor people because the top 20% own 85% of all the wealth and the gap keeps growing, if the rich are keeping all the money that leaves less for everyone else so more people end up poor. Rich corporations with CEO bonuses in the millions sending the jobs overseas, and increasing unemployment is pushing many of the formerly working class into the the poorest classes.

The vast majority of people would prefer a decent paying job that paid enough to support their families to any type of welfare. If you don't believe that than go volunteer to help people who are struggling and ask to hear their stories instead of just spouting off about "welfare queens" stealing all your money. I keep hearing how cutting taxes for the rich will increase employment, but the tax cuts for the highest earners have been in effect for how many years now, and unemployment is higher than ever.

Surely anti government people are highly disturbed about Jesus saying "Render unto Caesar what is his."
