My sister's family is very devoted Catholic, and she told me that before the '08 election, over half the bumper stickers of their church parking lot were for 0bama.
Thank God those cars are now demolished by "Cash for Clunkers" only good thing to come from that program. LOL
I am devote Catholic too and in the midwest you won't see bumper stickers for Obama on cars at my church.
Presicely, if we didn't have the electoral college the East and West coast would vote and those in the middle of the country would just stay home for all the influence and numbers of people voting we would have.
Exactly, he encourages private charity, he does not encourage government seizure and theft. This is why Republicans and Conservatives all give generously. Not only in money either, Conservatives give more blood and volunteer more often than their stingy left wing counterparts. Conservatives even give more to secular charities per capita than Liberals.
On the other hand, Liberals hate private charities with a passion, they believe the government should seize money and property then redistribute it based on who they judge to be deserving.
That's absurd, what liberal has ever said they hate private charities? Many liberals give to charity and volunteer much time to charity, liberals often work in public service and other lower paying jobs so maybe they don't have as much money to give, but I know many who give a lot in time, calling them stingy is childish and ridiculous.
This is a phenomenon I've never really understood is why those that are heavily christian, are also heavily republicans. If you really think about it besides abortion views, Jesus was a liberal. Not a leftest republican or democrat, but a full-blown green party tree hugging flaming liberal.
The teachings are about living frugally, to help the poor, to only live with what you need and give your unneeded wealth away. To open your doors to the needy and that greed is evil. Even how Jesus is depicted in looking, long hair, beard, sandals, pretty much exactly like hippies of the 60's.
It just seems to make sense that if you are a true follower of the bible, you would be a hardcore liberal, not a conservative.
Because the extreme right wants to control what you do by censorship. The extreme left wants to control what you do through taxation and social programs.
That's not saying that christianity is bad or that all social programs are bad The problem is the extreme

There is nothing in the Bible that suggests Jesus was a liberal. Nothing.
If you read the Bible Jesus was anti-government. He had no use for it. After all, it was government trying to kill him before he was born, tried to jail him when he was alive and ended up executing him.
Please reference a verse in the Bible that would support the idea that Jesus was a liberal.

I always love this question or assumption.....Heres the deal, first of all, the reason you are confused is, you don't understand what the Bible actually means and what being a Christian really is, and you don't understand the same about Republicans. I could just say that the reason True Christians are Republicans is because the democrat party is a freak show full of disparate groups that despise Christianity. ie; feminists,homosexuals, secular humanists, socialist,environmentalists,etc........But that would be to easy. The real deal is Christians are about personal responsibility & self control ,also things that are taboo in the democrat party. Now Listen up........ .before you start quoting scripture understand that, no where, NO WHERE.... in the Bible does it say that we as individuals are suppose to shirk our responsibility onto the government. The Bible says we are supposed to be good stewards of our money, that strongly suggests that we should not want to give more of it to a bloated, wasteful, corrupt, federal bureaucracy!

The Bible says that mortal governments are run by Satan. In Luke if I remember correctly. More evidence that Jesus was not a liberal. (Using the commonly accepted definition of liberal in 2010 United States.)
