Wisconsin is not the most unemployment-friendly state. The state legislature’s Joint Finance
Committee voted Monday to approve a proposal that would require Wisconsin’s unemployed to double their work searches from two to four searches per week.
Should they fail to meet requirements, they would lose their benefits
Why not increase the job searches to 25 per week? I bet that will fill all the vacancies in the entire state!
Criteria for politicians should be that they create 50 jobs a day otherwise 50% of their paycheck will be deducted every month - I can make such absurd requirements!!! where is the common sense??
Most people have to work for their paycheck so why shouldn't the unemployed as well? I mean, how hard is it to look for 4 jobs in a week to collect a pay (er unemployment) check. You'll be "working" much less then 40 hours a week. Besides, the more jobs searched for, the better chance of one actually hiring.
The whole thing is a joke. "Looking" for work aint what it used to be where you had to go out and pound the pavement or actually even have to print up your resume and put it in an envelope and leave your house to put it in the mailbox. Now you just fire off 4 online apps and your done. Well four if this law passes. Of course then you'll have the folks whining who can't afford a computer and it's not fair and how are they supposed to find a job and on and on waaaaaa. I need a cell phone to get a call back waaaaaaa. I need this all handed to me for free so I can find a job waaaaaaaaaa.

Depends on your field. I've been looking for a job since last summer (I will join the unemployed in 4 weeks) and I only see a couple of jobs per month that fit.

I remember as a kid we did not have a phone. When my mother was looking for work, she gave a neighbor's phone number as a contact. Not having a phone did not stop her from finding a job.
Also, libraries have computers that people can use for job searches.
These things never stopped people that truly want to search from searching.
I will say though that it is very difficult to find a job right now. The current climate isn't so great for job seekers.
