It's because there is a greater distribution of the population - and greater growth - in traditionally Republican areas such as the South. Also, as big winners in the mid-term elections, Republicans will enjoy advantages when it comes to redistricting.

Everyone always talks this talk, but not many people ever really walk the walk.

The Republicans will not only increase their clout in the South, but will certainly gain plenty of more clout in places such as Pennsylvania, Michigan, Ohio, Wisconsin & Indiana, and their extremely important Electoral College votes.

Dick Morris pointed out that the Republicans already control the Senate; there are 20+ Democrtic Senators who'll be up for re-election in 2012, and their votes on key issues are going to be extremely well scrutinized for the next two years.

Exactly my point, bcs according to most polls people are not towing the business as usual and voting for D or R. Both sides corrupt, and so people vote Independent..................

They can now redraw more district lines to give them an edge during elections, even though the new lines have no logic other than to break up strong holds by the other guys.

Which happens no matter the political party.

Until 2002 MD had 4 Republican and 4 Democrat Comgressmen (people, whatever).
The redistricting that went into effect that year changed it to 2 R and 6 D. Why? Because the President of the MD Senate, Thomas V. "Mike" Miller decreed that the lines needed re-drawn in such a way to elect more Democrats.

When either Party re-draws district lines to look like a snake or octopus it is wrong, period. Just because one side has done it in the past is no excuse for the other to follow suit, especially when claiming to be the more "honest" Party.

So its basically just more warring factions, strong-arm tactics and divide and conquer divisions....proving that the entire system is broken. Good to know, and another reason why it no longer matters what middle class Americans want or need.

Correct. Yes, and until WE demand change nothing will change. We need to stop voting along Party lines, that is pure lunacy as far as I am concerned. We need to hold those we elect accountable and vote them out when they fail to do the job we hired them to do. If we as the voters cannot get either Party to reform their ways or provide us with candidates that actually represent us then it is time for a grass roots movement to form a third Party that actually acts on the will of those that elected them and replace those that have become part of the problem and not the solution.

Then more of them came and ruined it. My guess is that most of those ppl from other states vote blue since a Texas Dem is usually more to the right than a Dem of the state where they come from. A Texas Rep is too rednecky and too socially conservative. I don;t think that it flies as well with the out-of-staters.
This is very interesting, and seems to be happening in alot of states- in NE Tenn, where I am for the moment, the last election I knew many many conservatives who wanted Ron Paul....the area changed due to alot of people having relocated....it seems to be trending purple in NE Tenn, in a good way because people are disgusted with R. and Dem. There were not many McCain signs, until you got more rural areas.

lok ast the mid term results for sates. CNhad a map showing the state house changes by red and blue maps. Remmeber tha change starts at the local level the state and then effects the federasl governamnt. I the states that gain representation they are mostly red which means they control redistricting also. Big advantage.
