Congrats to him.... 62 isn't that old I think. Wrt having same sex parents, yes I agree the child might be ostracized...maybe not by their peers, but by the parents of their peers. Bigotry tends to decrease with each generation
Kids are mistreated by other kids. If there is no valid reason, the other kids will invent a reason. It will be no different for this kid than if he was too tall, too short, too fat, too skinny, too nerdy, has red hair, has glasses, has braces, etc.
This kid is going to have it much better than most kids, since he is going to be from an affluent family and will likely go to private schools where the cross-section of students is much different. He probably won't even be the only kid in his school with gay parents.
My conviction is that the child is not in any way "fortunate". Monetary wealth does not bring happiness, and the abnormal "family" it is going to be brought up in will cause great social disadvantages. I hope for the child's sake that I am wrong in this prediction.
Generally speaking the kids of filthy rich people have pleasant lives. I'd rather see a rich gay senior having kids than an unemployed, uneducated, abusive and obtuse straight 20-year-old.
Why else would anyone open a discussion like that in the politics forum?
Yeah, but it always comes back to gay marriage, which has little to do with their having a child... one can have children without marriage, and I also thought the OP was more questioning Elton's age (hence the thread title). Besides, hasn't that topic been done to death on P&OC? It's like soooo 2009, LOL.
