The citizenship of the President or a presidential candidate has been questioned before and in fact, was questioned with respect to the eligibility of John McCain to run. While there is the clause making only natural born citizens eligible to become President in the Constitution, it is murky because Congress has not codified it through laws. Thus, bringing the legal challenge would be difficult in any circumstance. In short, until Congress better defines the methods and means of proving you are a natural born citizen, this will be something that could crop up again.

The phrase “natural born” was in early drafts of the Constitution. Scholars say notes of the Constitutional Convention give away little of the intent of the framers. Its origin may be traced to a letter from John Jay to George Washington, with Jay suggesting that to prevent foreigners from becoming commander in chief, the Constitution needed to “declare expressly” that only a natural-born citizen could be president.

Yes.

The document is dated Feb 19th 2009 and signed by "Chief Administrator" Helton Maganga. Not only is his name misspelled (it is Heltan, not Helton) Dr. Maganga did not become Chief Administrator of the hospital until June of that year.

At the time this certificate was supposedly issued the Chief Administrator was Dr. Jennifer Othigo.

Dr. Maganga himself was contacted by a supporter of Lucas Smith (the apparent forger of this document) and when asked if it was authentic he denied it vociferously. The results of that investigation were briefly posted as an article on the Birther website "The Post and Email." though they quickly scrubbed the article from their web site.

Leaving aside birtherism for the moment, it's well reported that everyone who knew Obama in his law school and later years knew he intended to hold high office.

What would lead you to imagine that was Obama's footprint?

No.

The only President previously challenged for his citizenship, Chester Arthur, was born before birth certificates were required in this country.

The fact is Obama would have a Birth Certificate even if he was born in america because his dad was from Kenya.. Kenya recognizes dual citizenship to children regardless of where they were born..

Obama does not have a single record "sealed up tight" that McCain and Bush do not also have "sealed up tight"... with the exception of Bush's college grades which were leaked against his will and not released voluntarily.

Neither McCain's nor Bush's BCs have ever been released. McCains college transcript has never been released.

I said if it was real.. Because Obama would have a birth certificate in Kenya, as listed above, even if he was born in america. Kenya allows dual citizenship until I believe the age of 18.. (might be 21.. dont recall) Having a birth certificate from Kenya wouldnt disqualify him from being president.

Actually John McCain had questions about his citizenship as well prior to running for president.

I would absolutely oppose President Obama's permission. That would set a disastrous precedent for all future Presidents when confronted by nutjob conspiracy theorists.

Since the State of Hawaii has certified that the info on the COLB is the exact info on the "long form," what other information do you imagine a long form would carry that could possibly be embarrassing?

As long as the President does not release it himself, you will find most liberals would be thrilled to find some way of making the long form public.
