Yup, I can also see a crew boss telling his plowers to "slow down, it's not safe out there!" and have someone in the crowd who hates his/her boss twist that into "my boss told me to drag my feet and not work as hard as I should." How better to punish a boss than to push that 'rumor' around the block?
But that's not what happened. The whistle blower(s) have detailed what they were told to do, and not do.
If you take the number of employees of NYC Sanitation(>10,000) who average taking 11.5 sick days a year, you will see a normal sick day would be about 315 call out sick. Considering the weather, have 85 more call out, would not be a big surprise, well, to a normal objective thinker. However ....
Incorrect numbers - 5900 workers. Want to recalculate for us?
NYPost, Reuters, better for you? The story is the same. Whistle Blower(S), the kind that used to be embraced by the Left...unless of course they are blowing the whistle on an arm of the democrat party.
What possible reason would they have to lie?
Nypost was the paper that first introduced the story, everyone else was follow the leader, and everybody in new york knows that its a tabloid.

They reported the story, they didn't make it up, did they? Why is there an investigation if the NYP made it up? Other news outlets have reported the story as well, haven't they?

In your opinion that's not what happened. The great thing about hear-say stories like this "slow down conspiracy theory" is that people like you and me get to make up any scenario we want until there is a fair and balanced investigation to uncover the facts. Until then, either one of us could be correct in our versions of he said, she said. It's the American way.

There were accusations made hence an investigation, simple really....

It's not MY opinion, it is what is being reported by various news outlets. What the whistle blowers are saying, what the eyewitness residents are saying.
Sanitation workers responded to their department’s call to report for work both days, with 4,800 of the agency’s 5,900 employees arriving to work Dec. 26 on two 12- to 14-hour shifts, said Kathy Dawkins, a spokeswoman for the Department of Sanitation.
I've read it in other publications as well. Maybe not counting the 2900 "civilians" in the workforce.
Oh it's fun! And Sanrene, you are right! The number is lower, it's down to about 9,500 now. I know it's easier to let FOX tell you the facts, it is still possible to look them up.
