Bottom line is the title of this thread is misleading if not a downright lie...
Well then, the news reports are a lie then too and misleading.
Sanitation Department's slow snow cleanup was a budget protest Gov. Paterson calls for snow slowdown probe

They were told to make the mayor pay for the layoffs, the reductions in rank for the supervisors, shrinking the rolls of the rank-and-file," Halloran told the Post.
Sounds like just something the union would do.
Why are you so determined to dismiss the whistleblower(S)?
How do we know that? Did the new mom know the difference between unconscious and stillborn?
I admitted using the word stillborn was an error on my part, yet the poster continued nagging about it
for a few posts after...even while quoting the post in which I admitted to the error.
Do any of you union bashers want to discuss the Mayor's screw up in judgment that was a major contributor to problems of cleaning up NYC? In your outrage to bring murder charges against union bosses, will you also fight to get the mayor charged as well?

Meanwhile, New York magazine reports that the major factor in delaying snow removal was that the Mayor didn't declare a snow emergency until Sunday morning, even thought the National Weather Center had issued a winter-storm watch the morning prior. Because of the low snow threat level, city buses kept operating, and without chains. This left tons of buses stranded across the city when the storm hit, blocking intersections and clogging roads. And it wasn't until Sunday at 8 am that the Sanitation Department brought in outside workers to help, too late to mobilize and make an impact.
Mike explained why he didn't declare an emergency.
It was Christmas time! That's not an explanation, that's an excuse. Or do you mean the other excuse that they were only calling for 10 inches and he didn't consider that an emergency EVEN THOUGH the weather bureau was warning about the high winds? High winds, pre-chilled ground and heavy snow mixed together is a major game changer. He blew it. Made the wrong decision. How can anyone deny that, given the outcome? 600 buses were stranded in the middle of streets because of that judgment call.

Oh yes, I blame him and other city officials for the decisions they made as well. Incompetence is one thing, deliberate action that create pain, suffering and death is quite another.
And his flippant attitude stinks as well.
HIS residential street was clean as a whistle the next day.
