California's Central Valley, which includes Fresno, a once verdant, lush agricultural treasure trove that fed the nation, is now on its way to nothing more than a government induced dust bowl......for the purpose of protecting the inedible Delta smelt.
Yet far from being a paradise, Fresno is starting to resemble Zimbabwe or 1930s Ukraine, a victim of a famine machine that is entirely man-made, not by red communists this time, but by greens.
State and federal officials, driven by the agenda of environmental extremists, have made it extremely difficult for the valley's farms, introducing costly environmental regulations and cutting off critical water supplies to save the Delta smelt, a bait fish.
Their economy is collapsing.
Fresno, and the surrounding communities, which used to feed the nation and themselves quite well, have very high UE numbers, no doubt from the policies that have resulted in turning these once thriving agricultural communities into cities of destitution.
Quote:
That's right — a community that supplies a quarter of America's fruit and vegetables is begging for food.
Fresno is one of several communities in the running to "stave off hunger", a corporate contest for $1 million in charitable donations to fight hunger. 24% of families in Fresno can't afford regular meals.
I just don't understand how anyone looking at the results of this policy can find anything good in it.
Anyone want to give it a try?
Anyone want to defend the fish over people going hungry?
Wait, 8% of the agricultural production in the US "Feeds the Nation"?
So this water problem has nothing to do with the population draining water supplies from exploding populations in Bakersfield, Fresno, Visalia, Tracy and Modesto since the 1980's?
Quote:
Rapid development and growth of California’s two major urban areas, the San Francisco Bay Area and the Los Angeles/Inland Empire/San Diego metropolitan areas, meant that an enormous new demand was placed on local water resources that were not enough to support the population alone. The Central Valley was looked to as a water source, leading to the creation of the California State Water Project which was contrived to transport water to parched, thirsty Southern California.

Are you denying this action by the court, brought on by the Greens/Enviros has not had a devastating impact on this once rich farmland and the communities that depend on the industry?

I recall when this was news well over a year ago. Sean Hannity had brought the plight of the farmers to attention of many Americans. California politicians manupulate water release to exert power and control. There is a special place in hell for those who hold back water for such greedy reasons, IMO.
Ther real kicker is that the Delta smelt is not even a fish "native" to the area. This is the problem with government owning the rights to all water in our nation.

sanrene !!! ... Great Stuff As Usual !!!
Indeed ... "The Good Earth Gallahads" are doing their utmost to totally obliterate what very little is left of America.
This ignorant rabble would without a doubt starve Americans in the name of radical environmental projects such as the one sanrene describes above !
California ... On the threshold of an unparalled disaster engineered by the "Goof Troop" pseudo intellectuals who are really, really smart when it comes to science and all that stuff !!!
The good people (American Citizens) who live in California ... deserve so damn much better than this "Nightmare" BS !!!
Thanks Y'ALL / Old Sgt. Lamar
