HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!
The government getting an extension!
Now the EIC crowd will have to WAIT to be paid for not paying in.
This is great. The laws DIDN'T change and there's a delay?
Hey, can those of us that pay IN every year get an extension too?

What's the point of this thread?
From your link:
The IRS said that it needs until mid- to late-February to reprogram its processing systems because Congress acted so late this year cleaning up the tax code. The bill, which includes deductions for state and local sales taxes, college tuition and teacher expenses, wasn't signed into law until Dec. 17.
Also from your link:
Of course, not everyone files early: only about 9 million of the 140 million U.S. tax filers filed in January or February of last year.
"The majority of taxpayers will be able to fill out their tax returns and file them as they normally do," said IRS Commissioner Doug Shulman in a statement.
You do realize that the employer and banks aren't required to send W-2s until the end of January.

Some are now beginning to offer them online electronically. I wonder if they'll be available sooner than Jan 31?
No matter, I don't send in my payment until April 15th anyway.

Do you suppose Turbo Tax will build any more Geithners with their earlier date?
