Go ahead. I've already done that. (I was nuke surety in the Army at one point in my life). You'll be surprised at how cool a depleted uranium round it.

Close... but not quite.
It is a byproduct of enriching uranium. In other words, it's the part they take out to make the natural uranium enriched.
That's why it's less radioactive than naturally occurring uranium.
I'll reserve judgment on this until things are a bit more definitive.
