And that's all I'm gonna say about this.
Don't be ridiculous, LuckyGem. I'm well past 50 years old and have no trouble at all with agreeing with what most of what this 21 year old is getting across. So much of his point making is just too painfully true for you to want to admit to, now isn't? RIGHT??

And a lot of people, including elected politicians love to tell lies about Canada's health care as talked about here: Is adequate health care a citizen's right? | Tulsa World

There are a large number of (legal) immigrants from places other than Mexico and India.

In fact, the U.S. accepts more (legal) immigrants than any other country in the world.

But lots of lies are told about Canada's health care, including ones told by elected politicians as related here: Is adequate health care a citizen's right? | Tulsa World

There's patriotism, then there is blind nationalism. Wanting to be the best country is not socialist. That's true patriotism.

I agree with a lot of the sentiment stated.

Being critical doesn't always means that you're "bashing" your nation. Why not want to make it better?
But the definition of making it "better" does vary. The OP thinks legalizing marijuana would make the U.S. "better," I, along with many others, strongly disagree.

So to the OP, what was the intent of starting this thread, and based on your issues with the state of the US, what are you going to do about it?

And no, this is not a nice way of saying get the f#@# out, but an honest question. Are you going to dig in your heels and start tackling some of these issues? Are you going pack up, and settle in a place that is more aligned with your ideals?

Of course I plan to do my part in changing things. I'm probably not leaving, my roots are here, plus it's hard to move to another country even if I did want to.

Because prohibition did wonders the first time. Sorry, but every medical journal published has stated that marijuana is safer than alcohol (a legal substance). The cost of putting people in jail for marijuana (with no previous convictions and no other convictions) is astounding. Not to mention driving while high, though not smart isn't comparable to drunk driving. Researchers study effects of driving stoned | The Car Tech blog - CNET Reviews

The costs of marijuana actually lie more with enforcement and pushing it into the black market.

So from a strictly policy standpoint, there is little to no reason why marijuana is illegal.
