Because you're insignificant in the grand scheme of things.

Sorry, but the mere fact that there are more parenting variables than Mother/Father is more significant than a few people BAWWWing that on paper they're n ot specifically referred to as they want to be.

I'm not referred to "THE GRAND OVERLORD OF THE KITCHEN, SUPER COOKING DAD" on every form, but I ain't gonna cry about it. I actually have skin that's not as thin as rice paper.

Then I stand corrected, and apologize.

However, still see it as insignificant.

Yeah..I get it. Now go off and spend those Federal dollars to redo the forms and throw the old ones out. It's only money after all and we can put no price on "feeling good" about filling out a government form, can we ?

Can we get someone to start changing the tax forms for us now ? I get offended when I see the words "you owe this much"

I have not been screaming "the sky is falling" I have not said the world as we know it is crashing. I gave my feelings and they are mocked and made into jokes. I hate being called "he" and "she" and "sir" and "ma'am" and "Mr." and "Ms." because gendered titles irk me. But people do it all the time. I can't expect everyone to understand that I don't really identify strongly with my biological gender, but people don't know that. And honestly they shouldn't be expected to know that and bow to my wishes, especially if it's a stranger on the street or someone I don't know well. So I just let people call me whatever pronoun or title they so choose (and I get both more or less the same amount). But we live in a gendered world with men's restrooms and women's restrooms, and people function by gender. English only has two options--male or female. So I suck it up and live with it. I bite my tongue when someone calls me "he" or "ma'am" because they're just trying to do their job or say hi or whatever.

Let it go. Not everyone can keep track of your personal desires and feelings. Leave that up to the people that care about you, not the government.

well I'll ask you the questions questions I asked maja that she has yet to answer:

does this new change in the passport application affect YOU in a negative way?

does this new change affect YOU in a positive way?

does this change affect YOU at all?

and BTW, when I say "affect" I don't mean it hurts you feeling. I mean does it make living your life, your day to day living, or, in this case getting a passport, a harder or easier experience? a negative or positive experience? or will it not affect it at all?

if you can answer yes to any of these questions, pray tell, do relate to us here your concerns over the changes that will be made in your life, and we'll listen and sympathize.

if you answered no to any of the above, then why the uproar over nothing?

Because you are unimportant, and you're basing your complaints off of emotions.
There is no logical reason to be referred to as mother. It's emotion only.
There are plenty of logical reasons to standardize it as Parent/Parent.

Sucks to be you that logic is the more important driving factor.

Also: Your friends seem to not think that forms should be designed simply because of what they want. You should learn that as a lesson from them.

Oh it won't but many on here are saying "what is the big deal" well if it is not a big deal why does it have to be changed?

I really could careless. I have my passport as do my kids so whatever but if the "no big deal" argument works for them it works for those that think it is dumb to change it also.

Because you are just a number to them. You are person XXX-XX-XXXX parent of XXX-XX-XXXX
They do not owe you to call you anything other than that. You're feelings do not matter.

Printing one form instead of three or more actually saves money in the end.

What about unicorns?

Streamlining forms is social injustice?

What's next on the social injustice list?

Requiring letters to have stamps?
