Interesting, the Western US seems very different in their view of Hispanics then we do. Very few people over here (Eastern seaboard, East of the Mississippi, etc.) have such a negative view of Hispanics. Of course the fact that there aren't that many gang bangers probably helps.

The closer one gets to the Mexican border region, the more one is aware that there is a problem of extreme violence in Mexico.

For example the 15 decapitated corpses found yesterday near Acapulco - people in the NE most likely don't get that in their news. They don't realize that Juarez, Mexico is now the most violent city in the world, far more dangerous than Baghdad.

And absolutely nothing stops the most violent killers and gangs of Mexico from crossing into the USA and going anywhere they like.

I am actually considering a move to So Cal or Texas in 2 years or so (I am thinking San Diego, Dallas, or El Paso). From what I have found, a number of cities (e.g. El Paso) that border violent Mexican cities like Juarez actually seem to have extremely low rates of crime. Gang bangers can theoretically go anywhere but realistically they need an established gang support system to function. I grew up in sub-urban Detroit which is pretty wealthy, yet we saw none of the gangs or violence that infest the city of Detroit living only 5-8 miles away.

Yes - El Paso is definitely on the safe side when it comes to random violence - no matter that over 3,000 killings took place just blocks away, and some El Paso gangs are involved in that, there is some reason that it stays over there. Very much like Detroit neigbhorhoods, violence seems to keep itself contained.

It turns out it was 27 murders in or near Acapulco. And yes the gangs travel back and forth all the time because they are involved in trafficking of drugs, people, weapons, stolen vehicles and any sort of contraband.

27 deaths, including 14 decapitated, rock Acapulco - El Paso Times

These "hispanic" gangs mean business. They aren't small-time. The open border benefits them because they control the trafficking routes and the distribution routes throughout the USA. Their greed is immense so they are violent, when they decide they want your vehicle, they will get it from you, your life means nothing to them.

For the Hispanics in CAlifornia, gangs is a huge problem. Sorentos, Nortenos, and Border Brothers are all at war with each other. Drive by's are common, and they seem to give up to the police relativley easy....
