It's quite gross that people are questioning the moment of silence as political opportunism. Any president would have (should have) done that. It is honor to those killed.
If you are questioning the moment of silence because you don't like Obama I just say it must be awfully distracting to be so consumed by hatred you cannot even except a ritual moment of silence for a tragedy. This has nothing to do with Obama. Get over yourself, look up compassion in the dictionary, and imagine if you were the family members to those slain and how you would feel.
My god.
I for one am NOT questioning the moment of silence. It should have been done, I agree.
I am questioning why Obama felt the NEED to be TELEVISED during the moment of silence.
My point was, we push God away from our everyday lives, but cling to him upon tragedy.
speak for yourself, and maybe if people really lived by prayer they, would lead more by example instead of such judgements in the face of such sadness for so many people
Obama did good one this one~

I am speaking for myself.
The actions of one lunatic effects us all.
I guarantee that this maniac was not a prayerful man.

Well, my comment was general, and not pointed to you directly! Just an fyi.
And um, I am sure there are a whole host of individuals who decide what to televise. Obama has much bigger fish to fry than deciding what gets televised and what doesn't. But I am sure a whole bevy of decision making individuals were in agreement that certainly the moment of silence in response to this tragedy should be televised. Why is that so strange? (you dont need to answer though- I will not engage further in any debate that continuously slams the president for being on tv leading a moment of silence for this. The criticisms are beyond absurd).

Oh, please
Why did Bush's post-9/11 speech have to be televised, then? Why did FDR's "day of infamy" speech have to be broadcast over the radio?
He's our elected leader for now, whether you like it or not. He is supposed to lead, and that's what he'd doing.
