Yes, since this HUGE issue is SO important to you....it was explained clearly by doctors that she opened her eyes PARTIALLY, opend them fully AFTER Obama left the room which is WHAT HE SAID.

In cases like this the doctors, NOT YOU, know that partial opening is different that fully opening her eyes in recognition of her surroundings....

Default Whose brilliant idea was it to hand out t-shirts at a memorial service?

I don't know who is responsible for these completely inappropriate apparel items, since both the state of Arizona and the federal government have their fingers on this event, but in my opinion its in very bad taste.

Maybe I've not gotten with modern times, but people were senselessly murdered in cold blood. Is this how future tragic events will be handled when government gets involved? The shirts and hats seemed to have set the tone for this memorial service, so people appeared to have thought cheering, whistling and sloganeering at his memorial service were appropriate.

I'll say up front that I had a immediate family member who was a public figure, and he was murdered by a gunman. So maybe I'm looking at this from a different perspective, but the theme of this event just seemed so wrong. This looked more like a political rally, complete with highlighting favored agenda items and talking points.

I thought people were joking about that...they seriously handed out T-shirts with a slogan on it?

I find it to be more Disgusting behaviour on the part of those that I have come to expect it from. If they represent what the right stands for I will remain standing elsewhere.

Where has this been shown? Because you say so?

The pep rally/campaign atmosphere was tacky, unseemly and distasteful.

The evidence is in the event itself, with wildly cheering crowds, shouts of "we love you".

I'm guessing the same people who wanted to turn it into a pep rally/kick off of obama's 2012 campaign.

Just really, really unseemly and tacky.

I think this is worse than the Wellstone memorial, which was turned into an ugly partisan affair.

That's the problem, isn't it, that you only saw PARTS of the memorial. If you had seen the entire thing, and actually listened to what was being cheered, you'd know the cheering was for the heroes and the survivors and the stories of hope that came out of the tragic shooting as well as for the warm stories told about the dead, to honor their passing. Critics of the president in this thread claiming this was more like a political rally, obviously only saw clips. If they had seen the entire event they'd know the cheering and hardy clapping started with the very first speaker and followed with each one after until they got to the last speaker who was Obama. The crowd was not scripted to cheer or clap, for crying out loud. This was obviously the kind of public memorial the town needed to have to help heal them. To criticize the event on any level what so ever, is what is truly disgraceful and disgusting. It dishonors those who most directly effected by the shooting.

In your opinion which goes down in the history of C-D as the most partisan voice on this board.

Did you say the same thing about a show of national unity after 911?

It is despicable that the University would think working together would be helpful.
