The passengers of planes have better track records for catching terrorists than our government does.
What a goofy comment. It belies a simplistic naivete that falls squarely on that fine dividing line between funny and sad.
Certainly you do not imagine for a second that the entire value of the TSA is determined by how many terrorists they "catch?" Never mind.... Pointless rhetorical question. It's apparent that you do.
Some other people might consider why terrorists are now resorting to pathetically clumsy and unreliable methods like "underwear bombs." Why they are "catchable" by plane passengers at all. Why catching a terorist on a plane no longer risks getting your throat slit.
Perhaps you might consider that it is better to remove the options for terrorism than depending on "catching" them during execution of an actual attack.
Ah... what am I thinking? Such consideration actually requires somebody to use more than their limbic system. And without thoughtless rage, where would conservatives even be today?

Still in the Congressional minority I suspect.
Believe in those "black swan" events. The US did nothing to stop that guy from boarding the plane even though they knew in advance.
And that is old news; terrorists have found out it is much cheaper to just put a bomb in a box and ship it somewhere.
Yeah..I got complete faith in the TSA..a bunch of trained GED graduates who can hold a magnetic wand.
Yes..they alone can protect passengers from apple sauce, urine, contect lens solution and nail clippers being used against them.
A little-noticed Homeland Security document reveals government plans to extend the controversial body scan beyond airports. When Uncle Sam started peeking at the genitals of U.S. travelers, apologists insisted that his prying eyes were justified. Hadn't terrorists hijacked airplanes on 9/11? John Pistole, head of the Transportation Security Administration, insisted that upset Americans could always choose not to fly. What he neglected to mention is that his bosses at the Department of Homeland Security intend to use various kinds of body-scanning technology elsewhere in American life. That's clearer than ever if you read the recently updated "privacy impact assessment" that the agency published."
The article goes on to intimate that cost is what's keeping it from happening now.
In your opinion, what will the public's reaction be?
My image would cause a malfunction of the machinery and temporary blindess. I do not think the fathers of teen daughters going to the mall will be very hapy
This is what is asked by the American public. If you have read and watch enough, you will see people actually think this is a good idea, as long as it make them FEEL safer. My advice to those people, if they want maximum safety, there is always a place for them. All they have to do is ask the judge to send them to a maximum security facility.

Naw this is the work of modern day Nazi's. A new way to say Papers please.
I wonder what they will do with ccw legal armed citizens? Looks like I will live long enough to find that out.
It's ashame men fought for Freedoms and sheep trade it away.

Though it's not clear to me from your usage that you understand what a "black swan" event actually is... I have no choice but to believe in them, since they actually did happen.
But what is actually happening here is a systematic (but necessary) bias in the sample. You will always know when the system fails. You will only be able to count some small fraction of the times when the system worked.

And we intercepted them before they exploded.

Nobody is asking you to have complete faith in anything. You are being asked to think with something more evolved than your brain stem.
I have to tell you though, you also need to drink less coffee or something. The antipathy you express about ordinary people trying to do their jobs is just really, really weird.
