One should also think about all the taxes paying for the high priced gas to get the children there. Feeling safe is a requirement for learning. A child that is afraid is not going to learn as much. I think children will always feel more safe in their own neighborhood. If integration is what a person is looking for, then they should drive through the neighborhood they are thinking about living in and only buy where others don't look like them.

LOL, I am sure that it is just coincidental that most of the kids that will be effected are racial minorities. We all know that most Tea Partiers will consider the racial segregation that occurs as an added bonus. Removing poor black kids from rich white schools is a feature, not a bug, right?

Economics? Maybe in part. But race is a non-factor? Hmmmm....Naaaah!
Honestly, I have no idea why you would think that Republican is synonymous with racism. As if they were Democrats you wouldn't expect the same ideology.

The county is about 72 percent white, 20 percent black and 9 percent Latino. About 10 percent live in poverty.
Does it always have to be about race? Why can't it be about economics?

Included in that 10 percent living in poverty why do you assume that they're all non-white?

I suspect they are going to promote school choice via a voucher program as a means to improve academic success and graduation rates.

An article from last summer:
» Government Study Confirms What We Already Knew: DC Vouchers Improve Graduation Rates - Big Government

Quote:
...Students who used their voucher to attend a school of their parents’ choice had a 21 percent higher graduation rate than those who were eligible for a voucher but were not offered one in the lottery process. DC OSP is a federally-funded program that provides scholarships up to $7,500 to low-income families in Washington, DC – a pittance compared to DC Public School spending.
Please, put the race card in the shredder!

So what about the rich Black kids. They are not good enough to represent the Black Race?

Because, and i've said it on C-D many times, the Republican Party is openly hostile to African Americans. I'm one, and i know what i know.

If you have no idea why i think that, as you say, then i don't know what to tell you.

My grammar school and high school were both 100% White. There were no drugs or gangs. There was no violence beyond an occasional playground fight. Over 95% of the high school graduates attended college. In Speech class, students sometimes brought guns for a lecture-demonstration. No one was concerned. Nor did anyone ever suggest that we needed police patrols. It was nice.

Have any Democrats attempted to segregate schools recently? The reason that people associate Republicans with racism is due to their support of racist policies. Do you really think that anyone falls for the BS argument that this is about finances and has nothing to do with skin color?
