Don't know why the word "democracy" drives people so nuts. When is the last time you heard about us bringing a "republic" to a nation. We always say that we're trying to bring democracy.

It's not worth getting in a tizzy over...geez.
It does matter....Plain and simple.

"and to the Republic"

I sure wish that was the proper equation.

I'd then be a Republican.

If you prefer Mob Rule over the US Constitution then no, it doesn't.

Is the Pledge of Allegiance somewhere in the Constitution?

Most "Democracies" are in fact "Republics", even happy places like North Korea, Pakistan and Iran.

Seems to me that this mess all started during the Lewinsky scandal when Republicans were going nuts about how we had to bury Slick Willie because "we're not a Democracy, we're a Republic, which is a nation of laws!" As if Democracies are all lawless.

Ever since then, conservatives can't seem to get enough of this silly argument.

Democracy does not mean mob rule.
Who cares. America is a Constitutional Republic to be exact.
