I'm glad there are so many conservatives here and fairly many libertarians. On the Dutch forum I visit 99% of the users are like the "liberals" here. And I use quotation marks because the right word is 'socialists'.

Oh, I think C-D has a fair representation of pretty much every political flavor. Some topics however, the conservatives love to jump on.

All you have to do is look at all of the plain threads that are locked or moved, look at all the President Obama threads that are still up. lol

The topics on C-D obviously slant to the right. The most aggressive and overzealous posters are coming from a right wing perspective. It's almost like these people are possessed. They are small in number but large (very large) in post count.

I think that is because he is president and the "news" on a daily basis about him is relevant, serious and needs discussing.

Some - like the ones hinting at deviant behavior - are gone right away.

Remember when Bush was president, the majority of threads were about him and his administration - same goes for obama.

On the moderation - balanced again.

We hear a lot of complaints from the left-leaners that the moderation leans to the right, but I don't know how many right-leaning posters have contacted me with complaints regarding those same mods. Obviously, they have a balanced hand.

I think what you are seeing is simply the reality of the situation, conservative thought dominates this country. this is why calls for a 50/50 fairness doctrine are so opposed, because liberal/conservative is not 50/50, its 20/40.

PRINCETON, NJ -- Thus far in 2009, 40% of Americans interviewed in national Gallup Poll surveys describe their political views as conservative, 35% as moderate, and 21% as liberal. This represents a slight increase for conservatism in the U.S. since 2008, returning it to a level last seen in 2004. The 21% calling themselves liberal is in line with findings throughout this decade, but is up from the 1990s.
It is a matter of view. I actually tend to use a simpler model. There are conservatives and those who are not. The conservatives are a minority in such a split. Those of us who are not conservatives or at least partially not may well not identify as liberal...which tends to often have as harsh membership requirements as being a conservative.

C-D is pretty balanced between the left and the right, but what it does have is the far extremes of both sides. There is also a ton of tinfoil hat doom and gloomers on this website.

Yes and the Admin removed them rather quickly.

I have received blatant death threats and I know several other right leaning posters have as well. One of them even followed me around the site to know I have kids and threatened my kids.

Some real wackos out there who get into politics.

There is nothing that happens in politics that we have to threaten each other with death threats.
