I think Palin would be good here - she is effectively doing the job right now.
That job is all about courting donors and serving as a spokesperson--Palin can't do it because she's too divisive. The old guard R's (people with the money) can't stand her, and I don't think she can moderate her personal viewpoints to speak for the party as a whole. Palin appeals to her tea party base--period.

I don't think it really makes a lot of difference regardles of your party, who the chairman is of that party.

I don't think its fair to say Steele was a token. On the other hand I do think the fact the other finalist (Katon Dawson) was who he was may have played a role. I don't think it would have looked that good for the GOP if in response to the first African American President being elected, their chairman was a former supporter of Segregation from South Carolina who was a member until 2008 of a country club that banned anyone that wasn't white.

Maybe now the "fiscally responsible" GOP can address their 22 million dollar party debt, lol.

Do you want Palin to run in 2012 or do you want her to run the RNC?

She can't do both.
