It's not a joke. Apparently the Tea Party wants to reinstate child labor as they think that's the only way the US can compete with countries such as India. I wonder if they want to revoke women's right to vote also?

The article quoted a supreme court decision that allowed saying child labor laws were up to the state. No tea party web site has ever been in favor of removing child labor laws. The thread title is misrepresenting of the position and so it is a lie

I find it quite funny the lies and hate people have for a group of people wanting nothing more than to lower spending and reduce taxes.

I would like to know what kind of income his family had when "mike lee" grew up. I grew up in a "single parent" household and I started working at 14. It was necessary to work if I wanted a new pair of shoes my mother couldn't afford. I believe if these politicans did a little more thought to who these laws affect, they might not be so ready to judge. I have great work ethic with the many experiences I've had and never felt I was forced to work.. it was my choice. It makes me smile to see that we are paying attention and we need to call these guys out on stupid remarks and laws...

What was Roland Dagenhart doing taht was different from Mr. Darby. What law was Mr Dagenhart accused of violating?

Darby was dragged into court for violating the th 1938 act and nothing else. The problem with the 1938 Act is that it pro-actively assumes manufactured products will be sold and shipped across state lines. Placing restrictions on individuals pro-actively is the overstep the Court failed to address and the reason they had to include language addressing the manufacturer's intention at the time of manufacture to ship out of state.

The purpose of placing these restrictions on a manufacturer was to enforce the 1938 Act regardless of the product's destination requiring the overstepping Court to include this convoluted rationalization.

"The motive and purpose of a regulation of interstate commerce are matters for the legislative judgment upon the exercise of which the Constitution places no restriction, and over which the courts are given no control"

Note the intention of Congress in using the Commerce Clause for an unintended purpose matters not, but the convenient assumption that a manufacturer intends at the time of production to ship out of state is as good as gold!

"Except brainier jurist than you or I disagree."

According to liberals, brainier minds than ours just declared corporations to be people. So much for brainier minds.

I wonder if you'll back up these idiotic statements with proof.

Remember if the policies of the ones you back are so horrible that they bring the economy of a great nation to its knees, the thing to do is to call people racists and accuse them of revoking rights. Which is silly since anyone who hasn't been brain dead the last century knows its the government who has the racist policies and its the government that takes away rights.

Wake Up!

Shhhhh!

I prefer to go into histrionics about how Republicans wants to force toddlers to work in sulfer mines while men in top hats laugh and roll around in their piles of gold coins.

You see the main part about being a Progressive is to act like nothing has progressed in 100 years.

Why would this surprise anyone?

The guy's just another teabagger who will oppose anything favorable to middle class working people. These creeps are largely corporatist toadies who will be totally in the bag for lobbyists and special interests and do whatever they can to torpedo the public interest.

Time for folks to start paying attention.
