CORAL GABLES, Fla. – Republicans would be “incredibly stupid” to ignore the fastest-growing population of voters, former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush told a conference of Hispanic Republicans Friday, particularly if they hope to recapture the White House.
But missing from the opening speeches of the two-day gathering was any direct mention of immigration, the issue that has long stymied Republicans from making lasting gains with Hispanics.
Jeb Bush: GOP 'incredibly stupid' to ignore Hispanics - Carrie Budoff Brown - POLITICO.com
If all republicans could understand that, like Jeb...They make progress (2 hispanic governors it's not bad ! ) but it's not enough.
They don't have a choice where they'll see the Democratic Party Decade.

I think your thread title is incredibly misleading, since he didn't say "Republicans are incredibly stupid". But I don't see that this story is worthy of much discussion. It's pretty "ho hum".

Who's ignoring Hispanics? Jan Brewer (R - SB1070) sure isn't ignoring them.

And in which century do you expect this apocalyptic decade to take place?

and what would he say about immigration? Open the doors and them the whole group in? I agree hispanics can not be ignored but we can't give in to every whim. We have to stand true to our beleifs.

Whichever party gets amnesty passed will have the Hispanics in their pocket.

And what beliefs are those?
Republicans already pander to the Hispanic vote. They've been doing it for quite a while. All this talk about how "they are natural Republicans" (which is very patronizing BTW) because they're so "family oriented" (because the rest of us hate our families) is pandering at its finest. Not to mention the VIVA BUSH stickers that were so ubiquitous in the Bush era.
Don't get me wrong. I don't care if Hispanics get pandered to. More power to them. Every other group gets their behinds kissed, so they may as well get in on the fun.

1994--Republicans took control of Senate and House under a Dem prez
2006--Dem's took back control of the Senate and the House under a Rep prez
2008--Dem's gained greater majority in both, & Dem prez
2010--R's gained control of the House by a large majority, while Dem's still control the Senate.
I thought 15 years was far enough to go back. Both sides swing back and forth constantly. It was comical when the R's talked about a permanent majority under Gingrich--it will never happen for either side. When things aren't going well, this country has always adopted a "throw the bums out attitude" for the other side, no matter which party it is. However, if Hispanics do become a majority in this country, the actions and rhetoric against them may solidify their vote to the Dems, just like the black vote has been primarily solidified for Dems (I'm talking the majority--not a handful of black R leaders) for decades. I think Jeb is right.

What are "our" beliefs? Who is "our" to begin with? I assure you my views are more aligned with Hispanic Americans on nearly every issue than me with yours. And no, I am not Hispanic, though I am a member of another minority group.
If by "our" you refer to White Protestant or White Anglo Catholic (non ethnic Catholics as compared to ethnic white Catholics like Italians, Polish), then you are mistaken. White Protestants are no longer the majority in America.
"Our" is now a conglomeration of various ethnicities, religions, and ways of thinking. There is no universal "our" in America anymore.
The Republican win in the House was driven by the Midwest and East Coast, not the South. Also take note that many of the East Coast Republicans are pro choice, pro gay marriage (or civil unions), and generally not pushy on religious issues. The Southern GOP would call them fiscally conservative liberals.

Nothing to worry about. Like most immigrant minority groups they start out as extremely liberal and democratic. Eventually the group achieves an equilibrium of conservative vs wackadoo values.
The Black argument will not suffice as that population was not a willing participant in their immigration.
Once Hispanics decide to growup things will even out. May take a generation but eventually it happens.
Thats why this Chicano hopes Jeb Bush runs for President in 2012 or 2016. Oh its gonna happen. Plans are already being made.
