Then wth did Bush have for the first 6 years of his presidency? A royal flush?
Bush had no where near the "super majority" that obama had.

Let's not forget that most dems voted for military action in Iraq.

"No child left behind" was a bi-partisan bill, crafted by ted kennedy.

"Plan B prescription plan" was also bi-partisan.

Out of 535 members of congress, only 3 republicans voted for the healthcare reform bill. and it passed.

That, my friend is what you call a loaded deck.

Not saying I agree or disagree, but this is John McCain. He hasn't been right about much so why pay attention to what he says now?

McCain's weak campaign is part of the reason we're in such a mess. He not only refused to confront the issues of Obama's inexperience and anti-americanism, but he played into the so-called "historic" rhetoric and chose an equally inept running mate simply because of gender.

The true military hero seemed to be so afraid of being labelled a racist for simply stating the known facts about Obama's lack of background information, his associations with known terrorists and lack of any relative experience.

Now he's calling him a patriot after two years of seeing Obama alienate our allies, denigrate the US in front of foreign countries, bow and scrape to the most minor officials and support the United Nations against the best interests of this country.

Obama is neither patriotic nor presidential - he's a disgrace to the office and his only "intent" is to see the creation of a all encompassing welfare state and complete dependency on government, using class and race warfare to accomplish a form of "reparations". That is not "advancing this country's cause" and John McCain needs to face the fact that the country he defended so heroically is being destroyed from within.

It is definitely one-sided BS, but this BS is coming from your side.

We now know Loughner was a-political and didn't even vote in the midterm election. He never associated himself with the Tea Party Movement or the Republican Party. In fact, it appears he had no political motives whatsoever for doing what he did and seems to be nothing more than a garden variety delusional paranoid schizophrenic. Furthermore, it appears the Pima County Sheriff who was so quick to blame Palin and other conservative commentators was the one who dropped the ball on this one. After receiving numerous complaints of death threats made by Mr. Loughner, his department didn't take him in for an involuntary psychological examination. This is very strange since the individual who shouted a death threat at a network townhall two days ago was in fact arrested and sanctioned by the very same Pima County Sheriff department. Hmmm...

Your recollection is in error. He did address those "issues." He called bull sh*t on them.

This McCain---the one who released this essay---is the McCain of years ago when Democrats may not have always agreed with him but we could still respect him and knew he had the country's best interests at heart. And it was about time a high ranking Republic tried to tone down the polarizing talk that has entered politics in recent times.

ETA: HistorianDude above is right. McCain did try to call bulls*t on the Obama "hate talk" early on during the elections but Palin's divisive voice overshadowed his.

Why The View-video? First of all, this is from 2010 and second, even Elisabeth agrees that Palins map is disgusting.

McCain defended her and applauded her at the time, and still does, even in his editorial.
"Imagine how it must feel to have watched one week ago the incomprehensible massacre of innocents committed by someone who had lost some essential part of his humanity, to have shared in the heartache for its victims and in the admiration for those who acted heroically to save the lives of others - and to have heard in the coverage of that tragedy voices accusing you of complicity in it. It does not ask too much of human nature to have the empathy to understand how wrong an injury that is or appreciate how strong a need someone would feel to defend him or herself against such a slur."

John McCain - After the shootings, Obama reminds the nation of the golden rule
So not only does he defend her tasteless "I'm the victim" video, but he completely misses the greater point; that that reaction, while human, should not be exposed to the public in such a self-centered way, especially by someone who may hold herself up as someone desirous of leading this nation. By contrast, for all the accusations that President Obama is intentionally destroying this nation, that he hates America, that he's a terrorist, etc., he has never resorted to "Pity Me" screeds, let alone at a time when the focus should be on real victims and not on himself, even though he may have wished he could "defend himself", too.

John McCain still doesn't get it wrt Sarah Palin, and I suspect he never will. Had he omitted his defense of her from his editorial, it would have been perfect. But I submit that his inclusion of defending her is his way of continuing to defend his own poor choice of introducing her to the public stage, which has ultimately led to the kind of vitriolic hate speech she has become known for.
