The article says that Obama, if he had been included in the survey, would have come in 8th .... 8th !!!!!
I'm a huge Jefferson fan myself. I admire his intellect. But honestly, it's the presidents that led us through major national crises that will always get top billing.

Washington = the Revolution/Founding
Lincoln = Civil War
Roosevelt = Depression/WWII

Even Republicans worship Reagan because, according to them, he got us out of a major economic crisis and was a factor in the end of the cold war.

Has anyone seen C-Span when UK's House of Commons is in session? It's extremely interesting to watch with lively normal communication and seemingly happy people, while our own Congress sessions seem just the opposite, sadly.

Too bad the U.S. isn't more like Europe...

We'd be MUCH BETTER OFF as society, that's for damn sure

Not even close to a full accounting ... when you leave out hundreds of billions in holdings that are not taxed.

But regardless of that ... why should the British people ... every last man, woman and child pay ANYTHING to keep these cretins in abject decadence and unsurpassed luxury?

That anyone but THEM would defend such nonsense just shows the sad state of mental dysfunction affecting the commoners.

Actually WWII (which we entered eight years after his inauguration) got us out of the Depression. The country was at near full employment between 1941 and 1945. Yes, there was rationing, but people on the homefront had jobs again--hardly what you call "extreme poverty"
Even most Republicans won't argue with that.

You should reread your history.
Yes indeed ... how wonderful wars are for the common fellow

Well, I was just about to say to the Brit something along those very lines ... that I particularly don't care what they do ....

It's the peasant mindset I have a problem with .. and it is similarly represented here by a bunch of left wing socialists who think it's OK to steal people's money to give it to someone else.

I personally don't begrudge my 70p a year or whatever it is, as long as they continue to be value for the money we put in.

Not every British person feels so but I don't mind.
And that really is the point .... friend .... that it should be a choice ... not compulsory exploitation of the people.

I dare say if it was voluntary ... you would have a few less royals living in a few less castles ... just a guess.

But I have some food for thought .... how do you really know how much "they" cost you? Because THEY tell you so? Because THEIR parliament tells you?

Yes, I said THEIR parliament ... it is theirs you know? Oh ... you think it's yours?? hahahaha .... yes ... and the American people think the congress and the president act upon the will of the people too.

Fairytales friend ... fairytales. Monarchies have always been the power ... the parliament is a buffer ... an illusion of democratic participation of the slaves. Nothing more than that.

That's why you work .. and pay taxes, while they play polo and nibble on black caviar ... and wash it down with Louis VIII De Remy Martin ... on your £ !

If you don't care ... neither do I.
