I see hamburgers costing 10 dollars each in the near future at a national chain restarant.

Overheating emerging markets, in China in particular, pose the biggest threat to the market and political situation in 2011 according to Philippe Gijsels, head of research at BNP Paribas Fortis Global Markets.

I've got my seeds all ready for spring planting, and a new crate of canning jars. I don't buy anything grown in China or Mexico anyway.

Good, we have an obesity problem in the country, right?

I know a lot of folks that have cut back on food to make their ends meet. Just look at what we eat every night. You can get a boxed meal for 3 dollars that has rice, chicken, carrots and broth for 3 dollars that feeds 4 people. Then we'll cook some kind of bread to go along with it, and usually a side or two on top of that.

Food is a luxury for most people in the United States, it'd do us some good to cut back some.

I found that Wal-mart was selling Christmas candy made in China. There is no way I would eat it but some people do.

When food prices are high you can always try fishing for food; I heard the Delta Smelt population will be booming this year (http://chicksontheright.com/2009/06/15/screw-california-agriculture-save-the-delta-smelt/ - broken link)

Oh I'm not saying this because there could be some kind of relation between food prices and agricultural regulation. Not at all. Go ahead and blame China. If anything the sheer majority of monkeys that passed the Food Safety Act make everything much cheaper because regulations and big government does that to prices.

I ALWAYS read the labels. If it says grown/manufactured in China or Mexico, I won't touch it.

I won't buy Hershey's any more, now that "The Great American Chocolate Bar," is manufactured in Mexico.

Actually it is news. News that the media won't cover because it might hurt Obama. But if commodity prices keep rising at the rate we've seen over the past year 2012 will be a very uncomfortable year for Obama and Democrats.

Agreed, it's not necessarily the amount of food but the type of food we eat.
On that note boneless chicken breasts are $1.69 a lb at Albertsons this weekend. Last time I bought over 20 lbs.

Thankfully I live in a state with lots of deer running around. My freezer is full of bambi meat.
