Around here, it's quite rare for a family with children to have guns around... quite looked down-upon, in fact. And if they do have a gun, I would hope the parents are responsible about keeping it locked up. My children (if I have any) will be taught not to even touch them, so there will be no need for "proper usage." And if they turn 18 and decide to learn about guns, they can do that at a shooting range with professionals.

Why would someone be in your closet?

I thought most people were out of the closet in SF....

Ba-dum-bum-bum... I guess you have to go in to come out!

We have no chilluns and have no plan to have any,but if we did they would be well trained...like dogs.

That is a good plan, and was my point, train your children and locks, etc aren't needed. It is **** poor parenting that is the problem, not the gun.

I didn't detect anyone in this thread being offended that you don't keep a gun, or by anything else you stated.

I didn't see anyone hostile over you not owning a gun either.

If you have encountered others who were hostile to you for not owning a gun, I believe it was unfair to project them onto the posts here.

How so? The punishment for theft there is death... seems like a good comparison to me!

Oh well... we all project past experiences into any debate, so that is inevitable. And you might not see hostility, but that is only because it wasn't directed at you.

Nope, because even a harmless crime gets you DEAD... I'd rather live with a little crime than fear death for everything. No thanks!
