Ron Paul: Gun control push after Tucson massacre is ‘despicable’ | Raw Story
If there had been some armed gun owners in the crowd (unlikely with a lib crowd) the perpetrator might have been shut down before he did all his damage.

He was shut down. By a "lib crowd". And without their having to get into a western-style movie shoot-out where gunfire is sprayed all over the place.

Most legal gun owners practice shooting, so I doubt bullets would have been sprayed all over the place. You need to stop watching Hollywood movies.

I don't know if this particular character was bright enough or in the right social circles to score illegal weaponry.

I'm all for the Second Amendment, but anyone who doesn't advocate the right to keep and bear nuclear centrifuges has to admit that gun control is a continuum of possible restrictions, not something you may say "yes" or "no" to. The issue is where to draw the line, and just because someone else wishes to draw the line in a different spot does not make them 'despicable' or mean they wish to herd you into a concentration camp.

So, paper-shooting will make you a great shot? Practice is a heck of a lot different than real life and it does not make one able to handle themselves in a real life-and-death emergency where split seconds count. Just by your response here, I can gauge how you would react.

I think it's admirable that you're commending the heroes who took down this murderer.

Who says that it was a Lib crowd? The congresswoman was center if anything a moderate.
One of the individuals who stopped the gunman was ex army. Most military personnel are conservative reb.
And yes many on the left did use this tragedy to push their agenda. Before any facts were out they were claiming that the man was Tea party, influenced by palin etc. Even the Sheriff made statements eluding that the shooting was in part due to race issues as well as right wing talk radio.
Paul is correct on this one.

The only laws that should be up for discussion following this tragedy are the ones involved with the identification and treatment of people with mental disorders and the ability of people with mental disorders or history of to obtain guns.

Who says it wasn't? Wouldn't real red-blooded 'conservatives' be packing heat?
