I did. And i ask...WHAT RACIAL TENSIONS? It's you who keep talking about tensions without proof of any.

So far, your proof has been your own personal feelings. I even said that i didn't believe that 99.9% of white South Carolinians even heard the speech....and you DIDN'T disagree!

Some posters are saying that the NAACP is a special interest group, as if there's something wrong with that. The NRA is a special interest group. The Family Research Council is a special interest group.

There's nothing wrong with special interest groups - unless you don't believe in the First Amendment.

actually as wrong as doing that to a great and honorable man like washington is...it doesnt surprise me...the way this country is heading, or actually what this country has become, im not shocked. Like many have said the naacp is a racist group with an agenda who wants to tear the history a part of this nation.

Have you ever just thought about how brave these guys were back then? The courage it took to do what our forefathers did? Not only were they brave, but they were brilliant as well...I just cant imagine Washington complaining about certain things, and trying to take part in some govt. program...Can you see Washington filling out a sheet for workers comp because he sprained his ankle or somethingm or how about standing in line to cash a welfare check...hahaha...Men were really men back then, not a bunch of whining liberal hippies.

Slavery was an evil institution. The legacy of George Washington is somewhat diminished by the fact he used slaves to run his plantation and he was not outspoken about equal rights for all Americans.

Whether you agree with this or not is purely a matter of personal perspective.

George Washington was NOT the founder of the nation. He as somebody who played a very influential role as a general in the Continental Army. Based on the credibility of his leadership during the Revolutionary War and his popularity he was an ideal candidate to be the first President of the United States.
