Let us be honest. Nobody is going to tone down political rhetoric. It will take a lot more to instill some sanity into the political landscape. And a thread like this is represents more of the same.
Yes it does, but of course the thread would not exist if the DEM politician had not been spouting off in the first place....
This guy is a slimeball referring to the Nazis particularly since they purposely and planned to exterminate an entire race of people. He should be drummed out of the halls of Congress.
This has nothing to do with political correctness and everything to do with the respect for those who were murdered at the hands of the most evil regime of the 20th century. Placing the two in the same sentence is disgusting and about as low as one can sink in ignorance and disrespect for a race that sacrificed and entire generation at the hands of monster killers.
Go home and go see your Rabbi for a history lesson you slime ball Cohen, you are a self hater to your race.
The fallacy with that argument is that it assumes that race was the only issue with Nazi policies and practices. Try... race, religion, political orientation, immigrants, nationalism, homosexuality...
In fact, communists, liberals and gays were persecuted before the wrath involved Judaism.
But, the original point is about lies and how it can be used to gain power and work against the interest of the people. Did Nazis use it to their advantage? If not lies and made up stories, misrepresentations at least? No?
We can debate whether Nazi tactics really apply well to American political landscape or not, but not without recognizing their operating ground.
Sounds to me like Rep. Cohen has joined the Senator Dick "Our Troops Are Nazis, Soviets in their Gulags, or some mad regime – Pol Pot or others – that had no concern for human beings" Durbin fan club.
Perhaps if Democrats stopped acting like NAZI dictator wannabes maybe they will stop accusing others of being NAZIs.
Ya mean good ole' 'Dick "The Turban" Durban'?
You'd think a Cohen, of all people, would be ashamed to let fly with such scurrilous accusations. He should be ashamed of himself.
While using the term Nazi was not in the best of taste, he is trying to make a point about propaganda which I do agree with. Make up a lie then repeat it over and over until it becomes truth in the mind of the weak. As we can see by some of the rhetoric from the talking heads about Death Panels, we can see he is 100% correct.
As for the whine about toning it down, no one on the far right has toned down anything, all you have to do is read the posts here by the far righties. So why play a game that the extremists would never agree to anyway. Back to business as usual for the left and the far right only has to keep doing what they never stopped doing to begin with, easy enough.

Ummm.... the rest of the groups you pointed are not races, correct. The Jewish race was by far the most people murdered by the Nazis. They were targeted merely for their race. Race was by far the most important factor in their murderous campaign against the Jews. They were the ones whom the propaganda was mainly aimed at when the "masters" began their propaganda campaign against those who would "poison" the blood of the Ayrian. The other groups you point to were merley pests in the Ayrian race. Jews were the "polluters of the genes". This is the main difference.
Nazis indeed used lies about Jews to get the ordinary German to believe what they were doing was "best" for the Ayrian race. Perhaps I misunderstand you, but if you think the Nazis told the truth about the Jews, there is nothing I can do to help you understand the matter.

The propaganda, and the relationship to the "Jewish problem" and the "Final Solution" in Nazi Germany is so nefarious and evil, to use it in the halls of Congress and compare it to our discourse here in the US, is despicable and shameless. It is even worse coming from a Jew himself. He is an obvious self hater and need some couselling from his Rabbi.

Death Panels DO exist. They are called something different but they DO exist. If you want to talk about propaganda you MUST recognize "Yes We Can", "Hope and Change" and "Together We Thrive" as propaganda as well. Also don't forget about all the lies told by the POTUS when he was pitching HC. He repeated them over and over and over again, and still does.
I hate political correctness in all its forms. Are you with me now?
