Difference is, they are not such a large constituency to comprise a formidable voting block.
You mean Mexicans(and Mexican Americans) aren't a formidible voting block? They make up 35% of this city, and close to 30% of this state. They are a strong voting block.

We have a lot of racist idiots out here. Rednecks in the inland Empire and Snobs in Newport Beach. Hispanics going after the blacks.
But I also see a lot of hope, especially with Middle school, High school and College kids. You see many groups of friends that are multi-racial.
Not to knock on your hometown, but when I see beach cities like Huntington and Newport Beach have a percent of people from my race on par with the national (or at minimum, the state) average, then I'll believe in hope for the future. As for the younger generation, I only see two conclusions: A portion of the youth will let society corrupt them with the racist agenda, or the portion of the youth who resist the racist agenda will end up moving to Nevada, Washington, or Texas.
Vehemently disagree. The least racist part of America is the East Coast, by far. The reason for that is that people of all ethnic groups are forced to live in the same neighborhoods as each other and even on the same block.
You mean theres no diversity anywhere else? like in Chicago? Los Angeles? Bay Area?
Just in Boston, NYC and Philly?
Amazing..
Anyway, im from the Northeast (NY). Its every bit as racist and segregated as anywhere else bud, and im talking a subtle racism. You will still see people of all creeds and races congregating, etc. but in passing, jokes are made, incidents happen. Its a subtle racism. Older generations, more provincial generations, in the Northeast are especially guilty.

Often times in the Northeast (least where im from which is an extremely diverse city of 60,000), you will see generational racism, which is more or less when older generations make comments about newer "people" moving in.
For example, if a certain neighborhood when they were growing up was predominantly Italian, and now today is Vietnamese or whatever. Older generation Italians, while not exactly racist, will make comments or jokes about how the neighborhood changed. Its a subtle racism somewhat.
Thats all over the Northeast, and im sure the Midwest. Older cities (Boston, NYC, Philly, Chicago, Cleveland, Detroit, Buffalo, Pittsburgh, Rochester, etc.)
